The Airport District is one of five districts and is comprised
of the world’s largest convention center, a 35-acre Disneystyle water park, and a private international airport; all
connected to the 5,000 bed Hamptons Hospital via cable
car along a breathtaking route enjoying views of the last
remaining tropical rain forest in Kenya as well as Mount
Elgon, the second highest peak in Kenya.
The cable car will traverse four districts starting at the Airport District and moving through the Grid District and Golf District before finally arriving at the Plaza District. It will provide an estimated 32.8 million annual passenger trips including workers and visitors. The effect includes reduced travel times around the city, a significant reduction in the volume of air-polluting vehicles, increased worker productivity and satisfaction, and boosted moral and sense of well-being among residents.
The airport will primarily be used to drop off and pick up passengers that are either visiting the city for medical treatment or for tourism. The 5,000- bed Hamptons Hospital is expected to treat 12,000 patients per day when completed in 2020 and many of these patients will fly into the city from Nairobi or from other airport locations. The airport terminal will have a shopping arcade and will link the 5,000-bed Hamptons hospital via an aerial cable car. When completed the airport will employ 240 permanent workers immensely benefiting the local community.
3rd Golf Trail between 1st Station Trail and Station Road is the site for the Hamptons Convention Center. Hamptons Convention Center is designed with four auditoriums, two lecture halls, two concert halls, 24 conference rooms, 12 meeting rooms and a large exhibition hall to host trade shows and thousands of attendees.
The exterior of the convention center has a large resort area with more than 1,500 apartment residences and 2,000 hotel rooms. Hamptons Convention Center is designed with a gross space of 465,000 square meters, making it slightly larger than Hanover Exhibition Center, currently the world’s largest. The convention center is inside the Airport District and is connected to the airport via aerial cable car that stops at the water park before branching towards the convention center. The cable car system will exclusively ferry tourists and residents to the convention center. Automobiles will not be permitted.
The renderings and designs of the Water Park on Hamptons Hill Lane next to the airport between the Station Road and 3rd Golf Trail is now complete and the site is being prepared. The automobile access to the water park site is through the 3rd Golf Trail or Hamptons Hill Lane barrier gate. The water park is designed with theme parks, 6 splash pools and 12 swimming pools on the 35 acres and will have the main aerial cable car station on station road as a mass transit station connecting the airport, the Convention center and the 5,000 bed Hamptons Hospital. MMTC, a tourist and business destination, is seeing a rapid rise in the number of visitors and investors looking for a place to call home. The airport district will see tourists flock to the water park and concert venues for entertainment, and to the resorts and restaurants with state-of-the-art amenities for both business and leisure. With an additional 20,000 workers being hired over the next 3 years, MMTC has become and will continue to be a key economic hub in East and Central Africa.
