The Industrial District, one of five Districts forming Mwale Medical and Technology City,
is host to the upcoming 144MW waste-to-energy power plant as well as other pollutionfree industries and manufacturers.
Resident companies are set to benefit from low-cost electricity from the power plant as
well as from the tremendous human resources estimated at 16.6 million people within
the 14-county Lake Region Economic Block that encompasses Mwale Medical and
Technology City. According to the Kenya Bureau of Statistics, 80% of this population is
below 35 years of age, providing a massive workforce and emerging consumer base for
all products produced. Within the District, establishment of a Special Economic Zone in the year 2020 has reduced taxes, thus allowing
investors to significantly recoup their investment
before they begin paying taxes. The industrial district currently hosts a 10MW solar power plant enabling the city to fully run on 100% green energy.
